ABC Studio Childcare is a sustainable approach nursery catering for toddlers and preschoolers
We have taken the utmost care in every aspect of our nursery from planning and designing the space, serving healthy and nutritious meals to choosing the best quality of educational materials, resources and the most qualified and nurturing staff. We always have your child’s best interest at heart.
Our story
It all started with a Mum. A Mum who wanted to create a safe play space for her 3-year-old. So ABC Studio Stay & Play opened its doors in the heart of Forest Hill, South East of London. It quickly became the destination for many local families, nannies, and childminders. The place for kids to enjoy and for carers to relax, meet old friends and make new ones. Unfortunately, Stay&Play facility is not open any longer as the space became too small to run during the pandemic.
During the first 3 years of the ABC Studio existence, the same Mum welcomed thousands of parents and held hundreds of conversations. And what seemed to be on everyone’s mind was the lack of not only a soft play places but, most importantly, the shortage of decent local day childcare.
So Mum came up with a new plan - to open a nursery. And not just any nursery but one that would put a Loving, Sustainable and Planet-friendly approach at its very foundation.
She was familiar with the sense of guilt and anxiety parents face when sending their little ones to nursery. And the only way to ease the pressure is to find a nursery that would be just like home - loving, safe and warm. A place which kids look forward to coming back every day, as a new adventure awaits them.
And with all these ideas and great intentions ABC Studio Childcare Peckham was born in 2020. It was the year of lockdowns but we sailed high above them and achieved solid GOOD grading with Ofsted at the end of 2022. But that space became too small too fast and the decision has been made to open Abc Studio Plus across the road at 50 Copleston Road allowing 20 more places for little ones.
Our Facilities
ABC Studio Plus offers a beautifully refurbished, well-ventilated, and light-filled space designed to feel calm and airy for children and educators. The heart of the setting is a large, flexible room with a dividing door, allowing peaceful rest for nappers while non-nappers enjoy enriching afternoon education sessions. Two bathrooms provide convenient access—even during our minimum three hours outdoors each day—while the environment is thoughtfully equipped with high-quality natural resources, a dedicated sensory area, art space with easels and paints, and a cosy circle-time corner that brings the group together for stories, songs, and connection.
Children will be outside in our massive outdoor space for playtimes in all weathers except high winds, extreme ice and electrical storms. We believe that being outdoors in all weathers is a valuable experience that will help children become more resilient as well as fostering a love of nature and the outdoors. We are not a nursery that wants to tell children to avoid puddles; we want to encourage them to jump in! This links to our outdoor learning and Forest School ethos and is something we believe is vitally important for young children’s development and wellbeing.
We’re striving to be ‘green’, not only through our indoor plants and the edible garden project, but also in our choice of sustainable toys and materials, reduced waste and the zero “new” plastic approach.
